Welcome to ECWT since 2008 the leading community for women in technology in Europe!
The European Centre for Women and Technology was founded upon theinitiative of the International Taskforce of Women in ICT (ITF) constituted during the conference organized the 15-18 June 2005 by Claudia Morrell, Director of the Center for Women in Technology (CWIT) at the University of Baltimore, Maryland, USA. The ITF is recognized as a Community of Expertise (CoE) by the UN Global Alliance for ICT and Development (UN GAID).
ECWT was set up as the first of 10 regional centers around the world operating based on a common global framework to give unique services for measuring the impact of women in technology!
Due to the Global Financial Crisis that begun in July 2007 centers exist in 2015 in Latin-America, in Asia-Pacific, in Dubai for Women in the Arab World and in Central Asia.
Education – Workforce – Entrepreneurship - Leadership
Led by High-level Advisory Committee and an Executive Group ECWT raises awareness, informs and educates about attracting, recruiting and retaining girls and women to STEM
(science, technology, engineering and math), and taking care of the female talent in design, production, marketing and use of information and communications technology. This work is carried out based on five key tools all around the world: Policy and Practice, Research and impacts metrics, Resources and Services, Dissemination and communication, Context and Culture.
And ECWT is serving one more purpose: creating a unique platform for collaboration between multi-stakeholder organizations both on national level (through National Point of Contacts (N-PoCS in 24 countries in 2014 as well as involvement in national pledges of the Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs) and in European high-level networking events and campaigns like the annual Girls Day and e-skills for Jobs activities.
By joining ECWT you join a Community of European and Global Excellence in the women in technology agenda!
